Dear Springfield families,

Middle school asks a lot of a young person. In the space of three years, your child will change how they think, how they see themselves, and how they relate to the people around them. Our job is to make sure that change happens somewhere safe—somewhere every student is known by name, by story, and by strength, not just by grade level.

That's the relationship we build here, one conversation at a time. It's a teacher who notices when a student's had a rough morning before class even starts. It's a hallway hello that tells a sixth grader someone's glad they're here. It's a phone call home that isn't waiting for something to go wrong. Trust like that isn't automatic—we earn it, together, over the course of a year.

And it's in service of something bigger than any one test or transcript. We're raising young people who will go on to be capable, honest, contributing members of their communities—students who know how to work through a hard problem, apologize when they're wrong, show up for a teammate, and think for themselves. That's the work underneath the work, every single day at SMS.

We can't do it without you. Whatever questions come up this year—about a class, a friendship, a bad day, or a good one—our door is open, and so is the phone line. Welcome to Springfield Middle School. We're glad your family is part of it.
